How it all started…
The future of rural Europe in the 21st century hinges on its ability to embrace and leverage digital innovation. Although many local stakeholders have taken the initiative to implement “smart” strategies, their impact has been limited to a local level, failing to reach their full potential.
Digitrans emerges as a transformative force, driving the digital innovation agenda in rural Europe. With the support of Erasmus+ funding, this project brings together rural stakeholders on a collaborative online platform, facilitating co-design, co-development, and co-implementation of digital solutions.
Through a comprehensive analysis, we uncover valuable insights and best practices, empowering rural communities to embrace digital innovation. Digitrans is poised to unleash the potential of rural Europe, fostering sustainable growth, resilience, and prosperity in the digital era. Together, let us embark on this transformative journey towards a brighter future for rural Europe.
Social Hackers Academy is an impact startup with offices in London, UK and Athens, Greece. Since 2017, it offers quality tech education and fosters the integration of vulnerable groups through it. Currently, it have launched an online learning platform, Athena Platform, to keep supporting students to make their dreams come true and become web developers all over the world. Through the courses and with the experienced team, Social Hackers Academy offers both technical and soft skills to support our students to find a job and get empowered.
What was the trigger point for your own initiative? What moved you to start the initiative?
There is a significant shortage of programmers in the job market, and the main goal was to assist individuals from vulnerable groups in entering this field. Graduates from their academy are able to quickly secure well-paying jobs upon graduation.
Which competences would you like to see in a digital pioneer?
Having been in the sector for a few years, speaking from the heart and drawing from personal experience makes the work easier and increases your credibility. If your motivation is purely based on idealism, success may be harder to achieve.
Are there any means of support provided by the state or other non-public institutions that are particularly geared towards supporting digital innovation?
Currently, there is a notable push to support digital transformation, particularly when compared to previous years. Although financial support may be lacking, the implementation of digital transformation has significantly streamlined various processes, making them more efficient.
What features would you like to see in a collaborative online-platform which is designed to facilitate the co-design, co-development and co-implementation digital innovation in rural areas?
Technical excellence and effective filtering of organizations are essential for ensuring that the platform operates smoothly. It is crucial to establish standards and minimum requirements that align with the platform’s goals. Take the time to evaluate who is involved and understand their reasons for being a part of it.
