A FEW WORDS
About the Project
Project Description
Rural Europe’s future in the 21st century will be defined by its ability to engage
with digital innovation. Many regional stakeholders have anticipated this and
pro-actively initiated ‘smart’ strategies. Yet, these initiatives remain bound to a
local level and thus cannot unfold their maximum potential. That is why the
project at hand aims to network rural stakeholders from different European
regions on a collaborative online-platform in order co-design, co-develop and
co-implement digital innovation within a previously developed Smart Region
Framework.

Project Objectives
Best Practices on Digital Innovation in Rural Europe
This project result will deliver an in-Depth analysis of the status-quo as regards to current processes on digital innovation in rural Europe. Plus, it will identify the main issues and actors involved in these processes. The underlying goal is to establish a pool of knowledge on rural digital innovation.
Smart Region Workshop Curriculum Guide
This project result will establish a profile of a European Smart Region and key practices associated to it. On this basis, an informal curriculum delivering competencies, skills and
knowledge related to implementing a Smart Region approach will be defined.
Smart Region Activity & Knowledge Menu
This project result’s objective is to identify Smart Region key activities and key knowledge elements as well as methodological and conceptual requirements for the Digital Transformation Hub.
Digital Transformation Hub Open Platform
The DigiTrans Hub is intended to convert into a European open exchange and learning platform in which current and potential digital pioneers can engage in the co-design and codevelopment of digital innovation. It should be
noted that this project result will be the project’s centrepiece since the work done within the first three project result phases will accumulate into the technical and methodological framework of this platform.
