A blogpost with eNVy
How it all started…
The fate of rural Europe in the 21st century hinges on its capacity to embrace digital innovation. Despite commendable local initiatives aimed at implementing “smart” strategies, their impact has been largely confined to the local level, failing to unleash their full potential. Recognizing this gap, the Digitrans project was conceived, backed by Erasmus+ funding, with the overarching objective of establishing an online platform to connect rural stakeholders across diverse European regions. By undertaking a comprehensive analysis of the present state of digital innovation processes in rural Europe, our project seeks to propel these communities towards a brighter future.
eNVy softworks, a Patras-based interactive media development studio, has been making waves in the industry since its establishment in 2017. The studio’s primary focus is on creating interactive experiences that blend artistic expression with technical expertise to educate, entertain, and promote their clients’ brand. eNVy believes in constantly improving their craft by leveraging new technologies and staying up-to-date with the latest trends in their field. The studio values collaboration with like-minded partners who share their passion for creativity and innovation. Vasileios Karavasilis, Managing Director and Co-founder of eNVy, answered our questions.
How would you describe your own initiative’s influence on the digital development of your region?
It is a purely digital company and what has helped is that they have created jobs that could not exist if the digital nature of the work did not exist.
Which competences would you like to see in a digital pioneer?
He would like to see someone who understands the scope of any technology one uses and how it can be used in different contexts. It is very easy to think that a certain technology is used in a certain way and this limits your opportunities.
Which factors have or could in the future hinder the implementation of digital innovation in your company / initiative?
High expenses / lack of capital, human resources and lack of networks / contacts (even if this one is getting better and better through events.)
How would you describe the influence of digitalization on networking and knowledge exchange as a whole?
It has a big influence…it has helped a lot where academic knowledge and information in Greece is minimal. In Greece the only way to learn is the internet. If there was no digital development, it would obviously be in a much worse situation.
What features would you like to see in a collaborative online-platform which is designed to facilitate the co-design, co-development and co-implementation digital innovation in rural areas?
The most important and interesting feature would be to be able to find people with whom you have similar interests. In other words, the filtering of the people you collaborate with.
