A blogpost with WorkHub Chania

How it all started…

In the sunny coastal city of Chania, Workhub was established in May 2020 by Effie Pouli. As the city’s first family-run co-working space, it offers a unique work environment.

Effie’s personal dream and her experience from years spent abroad inspired her to establish this hub. Since then, a vibrant and innovative community has grown naturally and quickly. Workhub has become a gathering place for locals, digital nomads, and remote workers from all over the world, who collaborate and create together.

How would you describe your own initiative’s influence on the digital development of your region?

As a workhub they have upgraded the services of remote work for digital nomads. They also want to organize some hackathons that aim to solve digital problems in the cities.

Which factors were / are relevant for the initiative’s success?

This idea came before the pandemic, but after the pandemic it had a lot of prospects, and this was because people worked remotely and there is also remote working tourism in the city.

Which factors have or could in the future hinder the implementation of digital innovation in your company / initiative?

High expenses / lack of capital and motivational factors (supported by family, friends, colleagues).

How big of an influence does the networking of stakeholders / partners have on the iniative’s success?

Very big. Networking is the A and the Z. The right person can be there and help you at the right moment and introduce you to someone else later and generate synergies.

What features would you like to see in a collaborative online-platform which is designed to facilitate the co-design, co-development and co-implementation of digital innovation in rural areas?

She would like to see trainings from the stakeholders administrating the platform. So that they also know which direction to follow.
